Labor Day Weekend: The island is busy but festive, with excellent weather and the full summer experience.

Fall (September–October): Beautiful fall colors, smaller crowds, and excellent weather. Some attractions begin closing in October.

Note: Mackinac Island is a seasonal destination — most hotels, restaurants, and attractions are closed from November through April.

Mission Point Resort — the most family-friendly resort on the island, with a beautiful lawn, outdoor activities, and spacious rooms. The resort's location at the eastern end of the island provides a quieter experience than the village hotels.

Grand Hotel — the most famous hotel on the island, with a beautiful porch, excellent dining, and a full range of amenities. The hotel's formal atmosphere is better suited to older children.
