Utah contains five national parks within a 500-mile loop -- a concentration of geological drama that exists nowhere else on Earth. Zion's Angels Landing, Arches' Delicate Arch, and the Fiery Furnace in Moab are among the most iconic outdoor experiences in America. Scenic Byway 12, widely considered one of the most beautiful roads in the country, connects Bryce Canyon to Grand Staircase-Escalante through 124 miles of red-rock canyon.

The state's outdoor adventures reward both the casual day-hiker and the serious backcountry explorer. The Mighty Five road trip can be done in a week with a rental car and a national parks pass. The Fiery Furnace requires a ranger permit and a willingness to navigate without a marked trail. Utah has room for both.
